Insomnia Treatment Study
Purpose: We are currently seeking participants for a study examining the effects of an FDA approved medication, suvorexant, on sleep disturbance in Veterans with post-traumatic stress symptoms.
Criteria: Age 18-75. U.S. male or female veterans with posttraumatic stress symptoms and trouble falling/staying asleep throughout California, South Carolina, and Georgia, as well as near Salisbury, North Carolina.
This study can be completed from home and involves:
- A phone call to see if this study is a fit
- Completing sleep and posttraumatic stress symptom assessment
- Participating in 7 video visits or phone calls from home over a period of 14 weeks
- Taking the study medication for 12 weeks
- Keeping track of your sleep

Rest & Resilience Study
Purpose: We are currently seeking participants for a study examining the effects of an FDA approved medication, suvorexant, on the fear conditioning response in Veterans with post-traumatic stress symptoms.
Criteria:
- Medically healthy U.S. military Veterans between the ages of 18-75
- Must be showing symptoms of PTSD and Insomnia
- Must be willing to be randomly assigned to receive medication (suvorexant) or placebo
This study can be completed from home and involves:
- Attending 4 virtual study visits spanning 6 weeks
- Being randomized to receive either the FDA approved treatment (Suvorexant) or placebo
- Monitoring your sleep throughout study enrollment though diaries and a wearable device
- Completing computer-based study tasks about stress-related learning
